Electricity generation

I. Overview of Slurry Pumps

A slurry pump is a specialized type of centrifugal pump primarily used to handle liquids containing solid particles. Its robust suction and discharge capabilities make it an essential piece of equipment in construction projects, particularly for handling mud, sewage, and similar materials.

II. Main Application Scenarios

In the power-generation process, particularly in thermal power plants, a variety of slurry media must be conveyed. Slurry pumps are employed across multiple critical process stages in this field and serve as essential auxiliary equipment for ensuring the stable operation of the power system. For instance, in fly-ash handling, slurry pumps transport the fly-ash slurry generated after boiler combustion from dust collectors to ash storage silos or integrated utilization facilities. Given the high solids content and moderate abrasiveness of these slurries, the wear-resistant design of slurry pumps effectively extends equipment service life and minimizes the need for frequent component replacements, thereby avoiding disruptions to production schedules. In desulfurization and denitrification processes, slurry pumps convey desulfurization slurry, post-denitrification waste-slurry, and other similar media, which often exhibit corrosive properties. Equipment constructed from corrosion-resistant materials can withstand the erosive effects of acidic and alkaline media while maintaining excellent sealing performance to prevent slurry leakage that could lead to equipment corrosion and environmental damage. Furthermore, in ash–slag handling, slurry pumps are used to convey the ash–slag slurry discharged from the bottom of boilers, operating under conditions of high temperature and high solids concentration to ensure timely removal of ash and slag and thus maintain normal boiler operation. The application of slurry pumps in power generation meets the requirements for continuous, stable, and efficient plant operation; they are adaptable to the production scales of different generating units, significantly enhance material-conveyance efficiency, reduce equipment-failure-related downtime, and provide robust support for safe, stable, and environmentally friendly power-generation operations.
